The popular myth, that most people choose to believe, is that there is only one Santa Claus - an immortal being who brings presents to all the children of the world in one night. The reality, as anyone who is a member of the Yule Dynasty knows, is that there are, actually, many, many Santa’s – all with different
names, all servicing their own countries or regions – and they are not immortal.

Granted, the average male life expectancy of a Yule is around 270 years but these Santa’s operate family businesses and the job is handed down from father to son.

THE SISTERHOOD

The Sisterhood is the Yule Dynasty name for all the Female Gift Bringers of the world. Some of them are the only Gift Bringers a country or region has (such as St.Lucia in Sicily). Others share the gift-bringing with a Male Yule, like La Befana and Babbo Natale in Italy, Pere Noel and Tante Arie in France, and Samichlaus and St.Lucy in Switzerland.

THE BLACK GANG

The Black Gang are all the nasty helpers of various European Santas. They dress in black and it is their job to beat all the naughty children while Santa rewards all the good children. Black Peter of Holland is their leader, then there is Knecht Ruprecht of Northern Germany; Krampus of Southern Germany; Hans Muff from the Rhineland; Cert from the Czech Republic; Scmutzli from Switzerland and several others.
