If you can, then you could win USD5000.00 (five thousand) or the equivalent in your national currency as at 31st January 2009 AND you could have your name on the front of the book, underneath the author and the illustrator. Even if you don’t win, you could stand a chance of being a runner-up and having a cash offer from the publishers to reserve your plot for another book in the series!

For just a one page synopsis of the plot that you would like to see fleshed out in the next Christine Kringle adventure, you could win a lot of money and have your name on bookshelves throughout the world!

HERE'S HOW TO ENTER

Once you have thoroughly read Christine Kringle and got under the skin of the characters, then all you have to do is send us your ideas for the next adventure in the series, along with a scan (if sending by email) or a photocopy (if sending by regular mail) of your proof of purchase of the book. The entry form is below.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

  1. The competition is open to anyone over 10 years of age – up to 100! (Sorry if you are 9 or 101 and want to enter, but we have to have cut off points somewhere!)

  2. The plot must not be longer than one side of one page of A4 ( a page of binder paper or letter paper) lined or unlined. There is no need to double-space the text. Single spacing is fine.

  3. The plot must centre around the main characters in Book 1. In other words, Christine, her friends Nick and Little K, Ma and Pa Kringle, and the tall elves Zazu and Egan. But you can set the story anywhere in the world and the adventure can bring in new characters and, obviously, other members of The Yule Dynasty.

  4. Entries must be in English only.

  5. Proof of purchase of Christine Kringle must be attached.

  6. You may only enter once.

  7. You may email your entry (christine@christinekringle.com) or send it by regular mail.

  8. The competition is open from September 1st 2008 until January 31st 2009.

  9. Anyone can enter – a schoolchild, housewife, professional writer, grandparent – anyone. It’s only a plot synopsis, so no-one will have any special advantages. Even if your spelling and grammar are a bit wobbly, we are quite able to pick out diamonds from amongst the glass!

FOR KIDS AGED 13 OR UNDER

If you want to enter the Christine kringle competition, put the email address of your parent or guardian on the entry form. We will then email them asking if they approve of you entering the competition. It's for your own protection.

FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS AND ADULT COMPETITION ENTRANTS

All email addresses and home addresses will be stored until the competition has closed. They will be in the possession of one person only - the author, Lynn Brittney. These addresses may be used once, to inform all entrants of the outcome of the competition, then they will be destroyed. No personal information will be given or sold to third parties.

The organisers of the competition undertake to inform the winner as soon as possible after the closing date of the competition. The winner will receive USD5000.00 (five thousand) or equivalent in their national currency (according to the prevailing exchange rates in the UK on January 31st 2009). Again, this does not entitle any runners-up to receive royalties from any future books in the series. Any plots used for books after Book 2, will have their name on the front cover of the relevant book in the series.
